History & Geography

Geography Intent

By the end of their education at St Bartholomew’s C of E Primary School, all pupils will have had the time and space to develop the concepts, skills and curiosity of young geographers. Our geography curriculum encourages children to understand and appreciate how the world works. We aim for each to child to have been taught a range of topics in line with the expectations of the 2014 National Curriculum. Our children will have a greater knowledge and understanding of the world around them and will demonstrate a curiosity about different places. They will be able to compare and contrast different locations nationally and globally using geographical vocabulary. We follow a clear, enquiry based sequence of learning to secure knowledge of key geographical features and this will allow our children to reach informed conclusions. They will also have had the opportunity to immerse themselves in hands on experiences through trips and visitors.
